Application - Accreditation
Energy rating and labelling must be based on factual data and statements that have been reviewed by an accredited body. Application for accreditation is made to a certification body, e.g. SWEDAC. The purpose of accreditation is to ensure that certification, inspection and testing are performed to a high quality level and in accordance with applicable standards.
Once accreditation has been granted, the certification body carries out regular checks to ensure that the company or organisation in question is competent to perform the tasks for which it was accredited, as well as to ensure that the characteristics of the energy-rated and labelled products are in accordance with what has been recorded about them.
SWEDAC is currently the only accreditation body that can certify test bodies to perform accreditation in accordance with the EQ criteria, www.SWEDAC.se. In Sweden it is RISE Research Institutes of Sweden (an amalgamation of Innventia, SP and Swedish ICT) that is accredited for energy rating and labelling of windows.
Information on how to apply for accreditation is available from Swedac.
Swedac can accredit any EU-approved test laboratory to award energy rating and labelling in accordance with EQ Windows.
Accreditation bodies that wish to apply for permission to license test bodies for energy rating and labelling of windows in Sweden in accordance with the EQ criteria must have been accredited for the task pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 765/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 July 2008. The application should be submitted to the board of EQ Windows.
