1970s

1980s

From the 1980s, linked frames (2+1) with a double-glazed insulated unit + 1 single-glazed were introduced. Single frames with triple-glazed insulated units, side-hung, and casement windows. Doors with wooden frames with an insulated core.

2000s

From the 2000s, it became increasingly common to have windows with one or more of the glasses as energy glass. Doors with wooden frames with an insulated core in thicker dimensions.

It does not take into account the fact that you can save still more energy by reducing your indoor temperature. For each degree by which you reduce your indoor temperature, you can add savings of approximately 5% of your heating costs to the result of the calculation.

Another and more detailed calculation method is the Life-Cycle Cost Calculation (LCC), which takes into account the energy costs over the house’s lifecycle.
